Effective October 1, 2020 the State of Maryland now mandates certain training requirements for Maryland Special Police Officers.

  • Course options:
    • One Day (4 MPCTC hours) Course(s) - Space your in-service training out 
    • ​Two Day (12 MPCTC hours) Full Recertification Course 
    • Additional Specialty Training (MPCTC approved) available upon request
    • Employer sponsored 80 hour Basic SPO Course

  • Training is selected from the (61) SPO Training Objectives


  • Virtual or In-person options available

  • Students MUST pass an exam with a score of 80% at the conclusion of the course
    • ​Remedial training course will be available if needed (*Additional cost*)

​

  • Streethawk will issue a "Certificate of Completion" to each student for the recertification process

​​

  • Streethawk will maintain a database of detailed training records for each student

The State of Maryland states:


"Special Police Officer Commissions are valid for three (3) calendar years from the date of issuance. Within the three years of the Commission an individual must complete, at a minimum, of twelve (12) hours of in-service training."


For persons seeking a new SPO Commission:


"Except for those individuals who are currently certified, or previously certified within the last 5 years, police officers by the Police Training and Standards Commission individuals applying for the initial Special Police Officer Commission must have completed an 80 hour course of instruction..."
